Northstars Registration 2020 / 2021 Information

IMPORTANT for this season

COVID-19 Update

At this time due to COVID-19 we are not sure what our hockey programs will look like for the coming season. We continue to work out details based on information from Hockey Edmonton and Alberta Health. We encourage you to register so that we can plan for the season but we will not be taking online payments at this time. We do not want to be in a position that we accept registration fees only to have to refund them at a later date.  We want to avoid the considerable costs associated with online payments and refunds. As details of what hockey may look like for this season become clearer we will communicate to those registered what we are looking at and what the costs of any revised programs will be.  Once information as to what the season will look like and we are ready to accept payment, you will be notified to attend an in person registration for payment.

 Evaluations

We will not be starting any evaluation skates until after the September long weekend this season. We are currently looking at starting with U11 (Atom) pre-evaluation skates on Sept 8 with evaluations of all players to start after that. This is of course if we are able too proceed at that time.  If these plans proceed, the registration fees listed below will be charged and we will expect a full season of hockey.  If changes are made, we may adjust registriaotn fees as requir3ed to meet the costs of any revised programs.

  Peewee AA Program

The NEZ will no longer be running a U13 (Peewee) AA program. All U13 (Peewee) AA hockey will now be run by the 4 Hockey Edmonton Athletic clubs that currently run the U15 (Bantam) and U18 (Midget) AA programs. Follow this link for Hockey Edmonton AA hockey boundaries and more registration information:

Northstars Hockey in collaboration with NEZ Hockey, Eagles Hockey, and Braves Hockey, will work together this season to evaluate players and form teams at the U9, U11 and U13 levels.

NEW Recreational Hockey League

Hockey Edmonton is starting a NEW Recreational Hockey League this year for all age categories from U9 - U21. This new league is ideal for those looking for a lower cost, lower commitment, non-body checking alternative to mainstream hockey. For more details and to register for this program please follow this link. These players will register with NEZ Hockey.

Respect in Sport Parent Program

For families that have not taken the Respect In Sport Parent program since 201 they will need to retake the program again for this year. Families should have received an email telling them they need to retake the program. For more information check the Hockey Edmonton website here.

Registration Highlights

First time players

If registering a player for the first time, families must take the Hockey Canada Respect In Sport program BEFORE players will be given tryout/evaluation ice times. When taking the program please ensure that you specify EACH player that you will be registering and make sure the spelling of their name EXACTLY matches the name they are currently registered by. Failure to do so will prevent that player from showing as having a parent take the course. If registering a player for the first time when you have taken the course for another player you can go to the Respect In Sport website and add that player to your existing Respect In Sport record. More details and links to take the course are available on the Hockey Edmonton website. Click here

  • PLEASE NOTE: If a family has last taken the Respect In Sport course prior to 2017 they will need to retake the course again this year
  • Players registering for the 1sttime MUST supply a copy of birth certificate, Alberta Health Care Card and proof of residency - a property tax bill or utility bill with parent(s) name and address on it before they are considered registered and receive any ice times.

These documents should be emailed to enac@nstars.com

Players that have previously registered elsewhere must first contact the Northstars Registrar (email enac@nstars.com) to start a transfer / release from their previous association.

All U7 (Initiation) and 'BB' U15 (Bantam) and U18 (Midget) teams are run by NEZ Hockey so therefore these players will have to be registered with NEZ Hockey.
Follow this link for registration information: NEZ Hockey

U15 (Bantam) and U18 (Midget) players wanting to try out for the AA program will also register directly with their resident AA program.

Follow this link for Hockey Edmonton AA hockey boundaries and more registration information: If you register with the AA program you must NOT register with NEZ until such time that you are released from the AA program.

Initiation/Bantam/Midget and Recreational League players CANNOT register with the Northstars online.  You must register with the NEZ.  Follow this link for registration information: NEZ Hockey
